Help Players understand Prestige
TLDR: Helping players understand that improving Vendor Prestige provides improved Vendor gear with motivate them to increase Vendor Prestige level and their playtime.
For any looter shooter, it is critical players feel with a sense of progress and are reward for their playtime.
The Vendors in Destiny 2, especially for new players, provide a consistent and common place for players to progress and ‘level up’. This includes both Vendors connected to ongoing playtime investments (Ritual Activities like Vanguard missions, Gambit, Crucible, etc.) and also Episodic activities and seasonal special events.
In exchange for this player investment, Vendors provide rewards in the form of Rank Rewards and Engrams which can be redeemed for Vendor-Specific gear.

One concept not made very clear in Destiny 2 is that of ‘Prestige’.
As players complete a series of activities and redeem rewards, they eventually have the opportunity to ‘Reset Rank’ with most Vendors.
Resetting rank does several things:
Provides a reward for resetting the rank
Resets reward availability so players can repeat the cycle and get additional rank rewards
Increases ‘Prestige’ level with that vendor by 1 level
But what does increasing your Prestige with a vendor do? It’ isn’t made clear anywhere in Destiny 2’s in-game user interface.
There is an existing design solution already implements on this screen that could be used to explain Prestige. This solution is a roll-over information box already used on this screen to describe some of the games currencies - Glimmer, Silver and Bright Dust.

Several examples of the roll-over information box used to educate players about currencies on this screen.
A simple improvement to this screen is to add an additional roll-over information box explaining the benefits of ranking up multiple times to increase your Prestige.

By better educating players about Prestige, players better understand the benefit of investing playtime in ranking up Vendors and receiving better rewards. This could increase playtime and player motivation around certain vendors / activities.
